Edward Harbut/Herbert was born Circa 1780 at Durham

Served Six years with Prince of Wales Durham Fencibles

Two years with 22nd Light Dragoons, Captain Fotheringham’s Troop; discharged 23rd June 1802

Six years with North Yorkshire Miitia

29th March 1809 was one of five men who enlisted from the North Yorkshire Militia  to 2/84th Foot, receiving a Bounty of £5/5/- for limited service (7 years)

Served in the Expedition to the Scheldt in Captain Johnson’s Company, where he was in Vere General Hospital before being returned to England 17th September 1809

Received Prize Money £-/18/6 ¾d

Discharged with a Visceral disease 23rd July 1812 at Hull

Description on discharge:- 34 years of age; a weaver by trade; 5″6; brown hair; grey eyes; sallow complexion
